The Fort Washakie Wellness Challenge-Blackford

Monday morning!! IWe had a lot of company over the week end. People for dinner Friday night, People for breakfast Saturday morning, People for dinner Saturday evening, and we went out with friends Sunday evening. ALOT OF EATING!!! None the less I gained only a pound and a half. Tonight we are going to friends for burgers as we watch the NCAA Men's Finals in Basketball. I will have to be careful. I will have to get a little more serious because I still have 9 pounds to go before June 1. I did a lot of outside physical work over the week end so I did not do my elyptical machine work, but I still got in tons of exercise building fence and laying out for my sprinkler system that I am installing.

Thies morning I got on the scales and they said 196.5. Last night I got in 23 minutes of elyptical work. It was considerably less than the night before's 41 minutes, but I must have overdone it as my legs were really sore. When I had finished I went back over the log of exercising that I have kept since starting my wellness program.
My goal was to exercise at least 3 time a week for twenty minutes. This would be 60 minutes per week. After figuring out my averages for the last eight weeks since I started, I found that I have been doing more than double that amount. I am averaging 136.625 minutes per week or 19.23 minutes per day.
There is no question that I feel much better and if you see me in the halls you might notice that my slacks are starting to look a little loose. It is my prayer that I will be able to maintain this regimentation even after our school year is finished in June.

Since my last entry I have gone down to 194.5 pounds and back up to 199. There was a couple of days over the weekend that I let my discipline down a little bit and shot up to 199. Now this morning I was back to 197.5 and hopefully I can resume my attack on 188.5. I have been able to maintain my exercise regime even though I switched from a Nordic Track to an Elyptical machine. Last night I was able to get in 41 minutes of exercise. Pray for me that I can get back to my discipline with my eating.

I am sorry that I have not been attending to this blog lately. Chrystal, thanks for all the support. This morning I was on the scales again and I am now within 8.5 pounds of reaching my goal. I weighed in at 197. The Nordik Tracking has been going well I have been averaging well above my goals in that respect. Last week I got in six days of 20 minutes plus per day. A couple of the days I was over 30 minutes. I feel better now that I have lost this weight. I can even bend over and tie my shoes without getting out of breath. I shared with Janet my wife this morning. "It is too bad that the pleasure of eating is not equal to the pleasure of weighing less." I love to eat, but it feels so much better when you are thinner. It's just hard to remind myself of that when I sit down to eat. Oh well I will pray that the Lord blesses my discipline for eating with more sanity. God Bless anybody who might be checking in on this blog.

Well I hit the minus 10 pund mark this morning. I weighed in at 198.5. Last night I Tracked for 30 minutes straight without stopping. The best I had done before that was 24 minutes. At this point I am half way to my goal of 188.5 pounds. If I get to that before June first I will continue to keep losing until then. I will then try to maintain my exercise regime over the summer.

Good News!
This morning I finally broke the 200 pound barrier. I weighed in at 199.5. It has been quite q while since I was that low. One other benefit is that my pants are more comfortable and my shirts are not as tight. Yes, I think I will begin keeping a list of the foods that I eat. It makes sense, if you have to write it down you will think twice about putting little snacks in your mouth and putting so many things on your plate. I will try it Mariah. In addition to my weight loss, my exercise program is progressing well. I am now up to 34 minutes a day on the Nordick Trac and this is for about 5.5 days per week. My original goal was 20 minutes three times a week. One other benefit, I was so worried about my knee becoming sore with doing aerobic exercises, but in reality my knee is actually feeling better than it has in a long time.

By the way....... I have been barrowing the Nordic Trac from Mike H. and I am looking to purchase one for myself or else investing in a good elliptical machine or maybe a BowFlex type machine. If anybody hears of one that is being offered for sale please let me know. It seems that there are probably a lot of households that have good exercise equipment in them that is not being used. Purchasing a used one would probably be more reasonable than a new one. Please advise.

It is Thursday morning. This morning I weighed in at 201. My being back on the diet and exercising after last week end has helped me get back down. I hope that I can break that 200 pound barrier soon. I don't know if I have indicated to you how I am dieting yet. What I am doing is eating a small breakfast at home of cereal and skim milk and some days a little fruit on it. Two mornings a week I meet with friends at the Oxbow in Lander for breakfast. I usually have 2 eggs over easy, a piece and a half of wheat toast and half the hash browns that they serve. Forlunch I have only a 15 minute break so I usually go straight to the salad bar and eat fresh fruit and vegetables with a little dressing over them. For supper at home I try to eat lightly and my wife Janet tries to prepare low calorie foods for supper. If I need a snack in the evening I usually will have a piece of fruit. Basicaly I am just trying to eat well and keeping my eye on eliminating calories.

Tuesday and back to school:
This past week end Janet and I traveled to Gillette, WY to see my oldest daughter and her family. Needless to say my exercise program (and diet) Suffered a little bit. I was able to get in 21 minutes on Friday before going, but none since then. I hope to get back at it this evening. Oh! one additional thing my diet suffered and this morning my weight had gone back up to 205.5. MAN THIS DIETING IS HARD!!! None the less, I will persevere. One other thing I need to apologize for my lack of postings last week. It just seemed that time was at a premium. I will try to stay more disciplined with my postings.

Good Morning,
well I made it through the weekend in pretty good shape. In fact I lost one half a pound from Friday morning. On Friday I was able to get in 21 straight minutes of Nordic Tracking. On Saturday I did 27 minutes, one sessiion for 21 and one for 6. On Sunday I worked three separate sessions and accumulated 30 minutes. So far I am well ahead of my goal of Nordic Tracking for 3 twenty minute period per week. I currently have a string of 10 days in a row where I have been able to Nordic Track at least 21 minutes per day and on many of those days I have exceeded the 20 minute periods. In terms of the weight I am down a total of six pounds since I began the program and my cloths are beginning to fit less tight. Pray for me that I will be able to maintain the discipline to continue.
